THE ANNUAL Harefield Hospital fun run is to take place next month to raise funds for the hospital.

Patients, staff and the local community have helped to raise more than £650,000 over the years for the vital services at Harefield.

This year, The Royal Brompton and Harefield Charitable Fund hopes to gather enough money to put towards a new state-of-the-art Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner for the hospital.

Lead clinician and consultant cardiothoracic radiologist at Harefield Hospital, Dr Tarun Mitall, said: "Harefield Hospital has a reputation for breaking the boundaries of modern medicine and for its pioneering work in heart and lung disease.

"Patients have come to expect the very best treatment and care from us and a new MRI scanner will ensure we are able to provide this for many years to come."

To support the appeal, one of the hospitals transplant patients, Mr Sam Nullatamby, has donated two weeks in Mauritius for two and the generous donation will be a raffle prize to be drawn on the day of the fun run.

Tickets are on sale for the raffle which will be drawn on the day of the fun run, Sunday, September 9, with all proceeds going towards the MRI scanner appeal.
