THE leader of the Labour group at Hillingdon Council has set up a competition giving youngsters the chance to win cash for projects or activities they are involved in.
Councillor Anthony Way has launched the competition to find out what youngsters are doing in the community.
Cllr Way told the Hillingdon Times: "My view is that many youngsters get a lot of bad press, thanks to a small minority. However, most young people are never any problem and actually make a valuable contribution to the community.
"If you are a young person under 19, I would like to hear about what you do for your community - and how you contribute to Hillingdon."
Cllr Way wants entrants to describe their particular activities that they are involved in that promote Hillingdon as a place to enjoy and be part of.
It can be something you do in a group or something you do by yourself for example helping others, improving the environment or setting an example for others to follow.
The first prize is £250 and second and third prizes of £150 and £100 are also on offer. The cash will be spent on a project or activity that winners are involved in.
The competition is open to young people who live in any part of the borough. The closing date is Friday, September 14 and judging will take place the following week. Winners will be announced on Friday, September 21.
