SPEECHES amplified by green electricity have signalled the end of a march by Climate Camp protesters.
A number of speakers addressed the marchers in Harmondsworth Village Square.
John McDonnell, MP for Hayes and Harlington, took part in the march and spoke to protesters in the square. He said: "People have come from all over the country for this camp.
"BAA has put profits before people consistently for decades. At the Terminal Five enquiries they promised there would be no third runway, but here we are.
"We are saying to this Government there will be no third runway and we are also saying airport expansion has to stop."
Christine Taylor, Chairman of No Third Runway Action Group, also spoke to the crowd through the cycle-powered microphone.
She said: "We were just a local group trying to get residents together. If I believed everything I was told about Climate Campers I should have been afraid to be here.
"But instead I feel hope. I think for once somebody is going to listen to us."
While the speeches mark the end of direct action for many protestors, others have continued on to BAA's headquarters in Mondial Way, off Bath Road near Heathrow Airport. At a briefing this morning (Sunday), the protesters said the siege would last until Monday.
BAA has said it does not want to comment during the period of direct action.
More updates will appear throughout the day on this site from our reporters at the scene of the protest.
