THIS is the face of a devious woman who carried out a distraction burglary at a pensioner's home police say.
Officers have released the e-fit image in attempt to generate new leads, following the theft on Tuesday, June 26.
At around 7.40pm, the thief knocked on the door of the 80-year-old victim's house in Forris Avenue, Hayes, and was invited in after claiming her son's ball was in the pensioner's back garden.
The suspect, who is described as 5ft 6 inches, white, aged about 35, of slim build with dark hair, blue eyes and an Irish accent, was led into the house by her victim.
But, while the elderly woman was looking the other way, the thief quickly left the house, closing the door behind her.
Later, the pensioner noticed a black shoulder bag, containing a large sum of cash, a brown purse and a photocard driving licence, was missing.
PC Mike Smooker, Hillingdon Police crime prevention officer, said: "When someone calls at your home, it's important to take your time. Don't be rushed. If you don't want to open your door you don't have to.
"If you do open the door always put the chain on. Remember, you can always ask the person outside to come back when you have a neighbour or a relative with you."
Police are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who may have seen the burglar, who was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and sports shoes on the day.
Anyone who recognises the thief or has any more information about the burglary can all police on 0208 246 1568, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
