THE headteacher at a Northwood school has spoken of his delight at the record-breaking GCSE results his students received on Thursday, August 23.
Stephen Wright, headteacher at Merchant Taylors' School, off East Drive, said: "This year's group has been tremendously committed to the school's sports programme and charity, so their success is particularly pleasing.
"It underlines our approach at the school, that a balanced all-round education is the best route to academic success, as well as personal fulfilment."
Overall, 55.8 per cent of all exams passed, were at A* grade, which is up more than eight per cent on last year.
Among the high flyers at the school, 21 students received 10 A*s.
