FOUR fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a blaze above a shop on the Uxbridge Road, Hayes, on Sunday evening.
Most of the first floor and part of the roof was damaged and the second floor destroyed over the Tropical Bathroom Centre.
Leading Firefighter Alan Winterburn, who was at the scene. said: "One man left the building before the brigade arrived and he was treated on scene by ambulance crews and taken to hospital."
The brigade was called at 8.29pm and the fire was under control by 10.17. Fire crews from Hillingdon, Hayes and Heathrow fire stations attended.
The cause is under investigation.
