YEAR 11 students at Park Academy in Uxbridge achieved record-breaking GCSE results.
This year’s grades reflect the best year yet for the Park View Road school as 62% of students achieve a Grade 4 or above in both English and Maths.
The science department had the biggest improvement in marks, with 62% of students gaining a grade 4-9 in the subject, compared to 23% last year.
Coral Denham is this year’s top-performing student at Park, scoring an impressive seven Grade 9 GCSEs, including Maths, Science and Computer Science.
She bucks the trend that girls do not perform well in STEM subjects by outperforming her male peers.
Coral said: ‘’I feel a sense of relief. ’What’s more important to me is knowing I’ve fulfilled my potential.”
She now hopes to study four A-levels in Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Computer Science and has plans to go to university.
Principal Juan Delgado said “Coral always gives her absolute all to ensure she makes excellent progress, and the results she has achieved are wholeheartedly deserved. “
Despite the Covid-19 obstacles, 62% of students achieved a pass in both English and Maths, while 31% of students achieved a strong pass of a Grade 5 or above in those subjects.
Some 27% of students achieved a standard pass in the EBACC, with 14% achieving a strong pass - again, the highest on record.
An improvement in grades in History and French led to the improved EBACC performance.
