SUPPORT for people caught up in a struggle to have dangerous cladding removed from high-rise buildings has been given by Hillingdon councillors.
Four years since the tragedy at Grenfell Tower, leaseholders around the country are being asked to bear the cost of repairs by developers and management firms.
A motion proposed by the council’s minority Labour group was passed, after an amendment, by the council.
Labour group leader Cllr Peter Curling called for a range of actions, including support for the 10 aims of the End Our Cladding Scandal campaign.
Eventually, however, the council committed itself to working with the Government to ensure defects are fixed at no cost to leaseholders.
Cllr Curling said his group supported the cladding campaign and had recently attended a protest meeting in Hayes.
“Together, we can make sure that decision makers across the country hear our voices and take action to bring an end to this sad situation,” he added.
