OAK Wood School in Sutton Court Road, Hillingdon, is on its way to becoming officially rates as ‘good’, according to an Ofsted inspection.
The watchdog found rapid improvement across all areas under the leadership of new headteacher Daniel Cowling.
It reserved special praise for behaviour, describing lessons as calm and settled and students as orderly and ready to learn.
The report said staff support students and look after their wellbeing, dealing effectively with any bullying.
The inspection took place in July and the report was published this week.
Mr Cowling said: “As Ofsted rightly points out, this is a school which has improved dramatically in the past two years and is, in all but name, a ‘good’ school.
“The reputation of this school is based on historical issues that no longer reflect where we are now. We are slowly shaking that reputation.
“That is not to say our job is now done. When Ofsted returns for a full inspection then we will be aiming as high as possible.”
Oak Wood replaced the former Abbotsfield boys’ school in 2017.
