A MILESTONE has been reached at the former RAF Uxbridge site, where contractors celebrated reaching the highest point of the project with a traditional topping-out ceremony.
The £21m retirement complex at St Andrews Park will consist of 72 one- and two-bedroom flats on six storeys, providing independent living with communal spaces such as lounge, bistro, health and wellness suites.
Phil Burrows, construction director of Higgins Partnerships, said students from Uxbridge College had visited the site to learn more about the different building stages.
The firm had also donated 100 books to the children of St Andrews Primary School.
Victoria Mager, director of development delivery at Anchor housing, added: “This brings us closer to our goal of developing a total of 5,700 new homes where people love living in later life over the next ten years.”
