FIVE fire engines and around 35 crew were called to a burst water main which caused flooding in part of Ickenham on Saturday (11).
An 18-inch main in Breakspear Road South, by the junction of Swakeleys Road, began leaking.
An area of around 800 square metres, covering eight roads, was affected and 70 homes were flooded up to 15 inches deep.
Five people were evacuated from two houses by police before the brigade arrived. Crews rescued another two people from homes in Derwent Avenue. There were no reports of any injuries.
The brigade was called at 10.17pm and the incident was over for crews by 1.19am.
Appliances from Ruislip, Hayes, Northolt, Wembley and Hillingdon fire attended.
