WHILE his political rivals were questioning the whereabouts of the Prime Minister on Monday, Boris Johnson was on a constituency visit to a school in Hillingdon.
Students and staff at Oak Wood School welcomed their MP, who was keen to learn how the school has coped throughout the pandemic.
Oak Wood School opened in September 2017, replacing the previous Abbotsfield Boys School, and moved into the current ‘new’ building in Sutton Court Road, which was opened by Mr Johnson in January 2018.
It is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive Foundation School with 1,090 pupils including 84 sixth-form students.
The PM was welcomed by head teacher Daniel Cowling, head boy Ali Ali and head girl Lillie Walden and went on to meet staff and governors and hearing about improvements at the school.
Mr Johnson was then taken on a tour, where he attended some classes and spoke with pupils.
He said “It was fantastic to meet the teachers and students who have been making great efforts to enable vital face-to-face education to continue.
“Making sure all children and young people can attend school or college remains our number one priority.”
Head Daniel Cowling commented: “It was wonderful for the young people to meet their MP, who continues to be a strong advocate for the school.”
