A CEREMONIAL ground-breaking took place in West Drayton this week as the vision of a new leisure centre moved a step closer.
The contract was agreed in January between Hillingdon Council and developers Buckingham Group.
Delegates from both organisations were joined by the project team at the site, on the corner of Harmondsworth Road and Rowlheys Place.
The leisure centre will have a 25-metre swimming pool, training pool, splash-zone, gym and health suite, plus soft play, climbing wall, youth zone, café and terrace. There will even be a rooftop 3G football pitch.
Residents were consulted on the plans in September 2019 and their feedback has been included in the design wherever possible.
Work is underway with tree surveys and bore holes, demolition of the old buildings due in mid-April and ground works scheduled to begin this summer.
