TAILS were wagging at Dogs Trust West London in Harefield as they welcomed two special paw-litical guests.
Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner MP David Simmonds was joined by Joy Morrisey, who represents Beaconsfield, on a trip to the centre in Harvil Road.
They had the pleasure of meeting Bluebell, a 10-weeks-old Lurcher who is completely deaf and partially sighted but will shortly be leaving for a new home.
As members of the Dogs Trust’s Puppy Smuggling Taskforce, the MPs took the opportunity to discuss the charity’s campaigning for improved welfare conditions.
Mr Simmonds said the centre had worked under extraordinary circumstances over the past two years.
“They have faced challenges during the pandemic,” he added, “as well as disruption caused by the noise and vibrations from [nearby] HS2 work.
“I fully support the charity’s call for the Government to implement visual checks at borders to stop this abhorrent trade.”
