SIX fire engines and around 40 crew tackled a blaze in a car workshop in Delamere Road, Hayes, yesterday morning (10).
The single-storey workshop was partly damaged and the fire caused a huge amount of black smoke.
The workshop was at the rear of a shop and flats. Around 30 people left the flats and surrounding homes before the brigade arrived.
Crews from Southall, Hillingdon, Hayes, Ealing, Northolt and Heathrow took more than two hours to deal with the incident.
The cause is believed to be an electrical fault in a car.
