THE Mayor of Hillingdon says sadness at the death of The Queen is shared by residents and employees across the borough.
“We are truly grateful to Her Majesty for her 70-year reign as Sovereign,” says Cllr Becky Haggar.
“The Union Flag is flying at half-mast at the Civic Centre, Battle of Britain Bunker Exhibition and Visitor Centre in Uxbridge and at the Polish Air Force Memorial in Ruislip, to honour and remember our longest-reigning monarch.”
During the period of national mourning, Hillingdon people are invited to pay their respects.
There will be a designated area on the forecourt of the Civic Centre in Uxbridge for floral tributes from Monday morning (12).
A Book of Condolence will also be opened at 9.30am in the reception area. This will be available weekdays between 9am and 6pm.
The mayor will deliver a proclamation reading to formally announce the new Sovereign on Sunday (11) at 4pm on the steps of the Civic Centre. Residents are invited to attend.
As a mark of respect, all council meetings and events will be cancelled during the period of mourning.
