CONTRACTS have been signed for two regenerations schemes in Hayes.
Redevelopment of the Hayes Town Centre and Avondale Drive estates is due to start this autumn and will provide:
- Around 740 new homes – 50 per cent for sale and 50 per cent affordable
- A range of apartments and family-sized houses
- Public spaces, a new community centre and better links to parks, the high street and the canal
- Opportunities for people to secure apprenticeships, training and jobs during construction
- A phased redevelopment that allows as many current residents as possible to move into one of the new homes on site.
Residents of the estates backed the redevelopment in a ballot held in May 2021, when 94 per cent of eligible voters came out in favour at Avondale Drive, with 85 per cent turnout, and 79 per cent in favour on Hayes Town Centre estate, with a 90 per cent turnout.
Cllr Eddie Lavery, cabinet member for Residents’ Services on Hillingdon Council, said: “We would like to thank the residents of both estates for working with the council on the redevelopment plans.”
Declan Higgins, a director at Higgins Partnerships, said: “As well as creating places people are proud to call their home, we will be working with the community to provide training and employment opportunities for those wishing to start a career in the industry.”
