A 10-STONE St Bernard has found her happy ending after being adopted from the Dogs Trust rehoming centre in Harefield.
Bella’s new family in Hampshire had previously adopted one of the heaviest dogs to ever stay at Harefield, six-year-old Chunkie, a Boerboel or South African Mastiff.
Chunkie died last year and it left a big space in his family’s heart.
They were hoping to find another set of big paws to fill the gap and six-year-old Bella was a ‘paw-fect’ fit.
Richard Moore, Dogs Trust manager at the Harvil Road site, said they couldn’t wait to hear about Bella’s adventures with her new family.
Owner Joshua Jenkinson said: “When Chunkie passed away, it was a huge loss in every sense of the word.
“It took until the beginning of June for me to decide to find another dog. Until then, when I thought about having a dog, I just wanted Chunkie back.
“I spent several days searching on the Dogs Trust website and was overjoyed when I found Bella. I was determined to give her a new home.”
