YOUNG people, families, carers and community groups in Hillingdon are to have their say on plans for transforming youth services in the borough.

The current youth strategy is considered outdated, with falling attendance rates, and young people say they would prefer services to be brought to them, close to where they live.

They also want to spend recreation time in different formats that would encourage them to take part.

Hillingdon also wants to increase the number of activities, to try to reach more young people.

Street-based work will continue, with more flexible location-based sessions at a range of buildings, including schools, sports and community centres.

Cllr Susan O'Brien, Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Education, said: “Our young people have told us our current youth services model is outdated. We have listened to this feedback.

“I encourage them to share their valuable insight and help to shape new services that can benefit even more young people.”
