FOR its next production, Ruislip Dramatic Society returns to the Compass Theatre with four couples, three bedrooms, two celebrations, one blazing row and an illicit kiss (or two) in an hilarious Alan Ayckbourn comedy.

Set in London in 1975, Bedroom Farce shows Ayckbourn’s comic genius bursting into life with a melee of fast paced events occurring in three suburban bedrooms during one night.

Ernest and Delia are celebrating their wedding anniversary after many years of marriage, Malcolm and Kate are preparing to host a party in their new ‘love nest’; while Nick and Jan are trying to cope with Nick’s bad back, which has left him stuck in bed.

Each couple’s relationship has its problems, but they are all tested when Trevor and Susannah arrive to share their marital issues…in their bedrooms!

Now 83, Alan Ayckbourn has become the world’s most performed playwright after Shakespeare and the first living writer to be knighted since Noel Coward.

An award-winning writer and director, he is the only playwright to have been recognised with both the Laurence Olivier and Tony Special Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre.

Bedroom Farce shows him at his best. Comical, touching and fast paced, it has also been described as one of Ayckbourn’s funniest plays.
