LABOUR and Conservative candidates in Thursday’s Uxbridge and South Ruislip by-election traded blows today on the future of Hillingdon Hospital.
It follows a National Audit Office report on the Government’s New Hospitals Programme.
Danny Beales, the Labour hopeful, said: “This damning report shows the Government has not provided the money for a new Hillingdon Hospital - and it won’t be completed before 2030.
“A Labour government will deliver a new hospital for Hillingdon in its first term.”
A spokesperson for Conservative rival Steve Tuckwell responded: "Labour are once again playing politics. The reality is work has already begun as part of a more than £20bn investment into building 40 new hospitals.
"If Labour read the NAO report, they would know it confirmed that Hillingdon is due to be completed by 2030. [It] has already received funding as it progresses with the stages of its plans."
