VISITORS to Uxbridge town centre face changes in the way they pay in two of Hillingdon Council’s car parks.
From next Tuesday (10), they will pay to use the Grainges and Cedars multi-storey car parks by on their mobile phones or by using a pay-and-display machine.
The current pay-on-foot system, where you get a ticket at the entry barrier, is being replaced.
Signs for the new payment system have been installed around the car parks. Also, barriers will be removed as the system will not require them for entry and exit.
People living nearby and above the two car parks, who may also use them occasionally, will also need to switch to the new payment system.
Blue Badge holders will no longer need to register for an entry/exit card but will need to display their badge on the dashboard.
Cllr Eddie Lavery, Cabinet Member for Residents’ Services, said: “Making this switch brings these car parks in line with the rest of the borough.
“We understand not all residents will want to use the PayByPhone system, which is why we’ve ensured they still have an option to pay by cash or card.”
If you want a virtual season ticket permit, visit www.hillingdon.gov.uk/parking-permits.
Parking officers will be patrolling the car parks following the switchover and both locations may be locked overnight.
