A NEW Hillingdon Hospital moved a step closer after receiving full planning permission last week, to pass another milestone. 

Hillingdon Council’s sign-off follows the Government's confirmed funding for the project.

Both main political parties say they will build the new hospital by 2030, and a contractor has been appointed to clear the site. 

The new hospital will have the same mix of services as now and will be built in the same location (next to the existing hospital). Services will remain open during construction.

Patricia Wright, chief executive of Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled [it] has passed another major milestone. This is a testament to the hard work of the team behind the project as well as the support of our staff, patients, local people and partners across Hillingdon.”

Ian Bendall, lead public governor, said: “Everyone knows Hillingdon really needs a new hospital as the estate is not fit for purpose and it’s so hard for patients to make their way around."

Cllr Jane Palmer, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, said: “Hillingdon Hospital will now be able to move to the development stage, which will enable it to deliver care to our many residents who need it, while also helping them to live healthier lives.

“Once completed, our residents will have a state-of-the-art hospital they deserve.”
