IF you’re looking for activities that offer a break from the usual Christmas grottos, the Battle of Britain Bunker and Visitor Centre at Uxbridge has a sack full of activities.
For young visitors, Santa Scramble Christmas Crafts sessions take place each Saturday up to Christmas from 11am-3pm where you can help the elves create toys and decorations.
Sessions are suitable for all ages and free with an admission ticket to the Hillingdon Council attraction.
Pipsqueak toddler story sessions return with a Christmas special on Friday, December 22, for youngsters aged 18 months to three years.
It starts at 10.30am and costs £2.50. Adults (max two per child) can accompany the children and do not need a ticket.
This Sunday, December 10, Lissie Allsop performs vintage songs from the 1940s during two 45-minute sets at 12.30pm and 1.45pm. Entry is free with a general admission ticket to the bunker.
The following Sunday (17), the RAF Halton Band will entertain guests with Christmas songs in the Visitor Centre. The concert is also free with general admission and starts at 1pm.
The unique Twilight Yoga series continues throughout December. The next classes are on Monday 11 and 18 at 7pm and cost £5 per session.
The Speaker Series of talks continues with historian Paul Beaver discussing the exploits of the extraordinary pilot Eric ‘Winkle’ Brown, on Saturday, December 16 at 11.30am. Tickets cost £5.
The bunker is closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
