LONDON Marathon runner Gareth Halls, from Ruislip, has extra incentive in this year's race, where he will be raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

It was in November 2020 that Gareth’s daughter Sienna was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. She was just four and, since then, has been treated at GOSH.

Last year, he ran for Team GOSH while Sienna was receiving treatment, but, since then, the family has had great news.

Last June, Sienna was able to ring the end-of-treatment bell at GOSH with many of the team who were present at the start of her journey to witness the end of her treatment.

Gareth is running the marathon again this year for Team GOSH – and this time he is able to do it knowing Sienna is cancer-free.

Sienna had two and a half years of maintenance chemotherapy, which involved visits to GOSH every three months.
