BARNHILL Community High in Hayes is the first Hillingdon secondary school to be upgraded from a Good to the coveted Outstanding rating following an Ofsted inspection in February.
Figures show that only 6% of all inspections in existing Good schools across the country result in such an upgrade.
Visiting inspectors praised the determination, reflectiveness and high expectations of leaders at all levels for every pupil.
They highlighted student achievement and exceptional preparedness for the next steps of their educational journey and described Barnhill as a school with a passion for serving its local community.
The report also recognised a well-crafted, broad and ambitious curriculum, along with outstanding practice in the classroom, enabling students to excel in all areas.
It added that Barnhill students benefit from carefully-planned provision that extends beyond the academic.
Barnhill’s progress score of +0.66 puts it in the top 10% of schools.
It has expanded its numbers on roll from 1,370 in 2016 to 1,590 in 2023 and 1,620 in 2024.
John Jones, head teacher for six years, said: “Every school has its challenges and the staff, students and families have worked incredibly hard to improve educational standards.”
