HERTS and Middlesex Wildlife Trust is urging election candidates to recognise voters’ support for tackling climate and nature emergency.
A majority of people think the main parties are doing poorly on a number of matters, including river pollution, nature loss and supporting sustainable food production.
It follows a poll of 2,200 adults commissioned by the Wildlife Trusts.
Among key concerns, 79% think nature is important for our well-being and economic prosperity and 59% consider environmental issues to be at least as important as other issues facing the country.
Chloë Edwards, Director of Nature Recovery at Herts and Middlesex Trust said: “Our poll showed that four in 10 people are planning to vote based on environmental policies.”
The Trust is a leading voice for conservation in Hertfordshire and Middlesex with more than 23,500 members.
