FIREFIGHTERS rescued three people from a blaze in a flat at Midhurst Gardens, North Hillingdon this morning (28).

A second-floor communal stairwell was destroyed in the fire.

Crew members used two nine-metre ladders to rescue the three people from the second floor. They were taken to hospital by ambulance.  

Control office took nine calls about the blaze and gave vital fire survival guidance to those inside the building on how to stay safe before crews arrived.  

The brigade was called at 6.28am and the fire was under control in just over an hour.

Four engines and around 25 crew from Hillingdon, Ruislip, Southall and Northolt stations attended.  

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
