THE prospectus for Hillingdon Council’s Learn Hillingdon Adult and Community Education programme for 2024/25 is now available.

It features hundreds of part-time day and evening courses to help residents aged 19 and above gain new skills, prepare for work or promotion or gain a qualification.

There is also a range creative and social sessions, including art, sewing and fashion, photography, flower arranging and languages.

The low-cost options are delivered at Hillingdon's three adult education centres, in the community and virtually, with many fully funded.

If people are interested in helping to care for others, there are courses to progress in a range of professions, including community mental health, residential, home-based care and health support services.

If you would like to support children with their early development, Learn Hillingdon can help on a career path as an early years’ practitioner in nurseries or pre-schools, or a support role in primary and secondary schools.

A highlight this year is the introduction to childminding course, which will help prepare you to set up a home-based childcare setting, register with Ofsted and build a business plan.

There are around 70 courses for Adults with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (ALDD), with experienced staff on hand to provide support.

Hatice Cavus, 41, from Ruislip, a former finance manager in Turkey, moved to the UK with her family and decided on a career transition, choosing to become a teaching assistant.

Starting with the Preparing to Work in Schools Level 1 course, she then completed the Supporting Teaching and Learning Level 2 course.

She also completed the Safeguarding and Prevent Level 2 course, which eventually led  to a job offer from a primary school.
