WITH the price of parking at Heathrow shooting up by 11% over the last year, many people living nearby are making money renting their driveways to travellers
Online used car retailer cinch has analysed alternative parking options near the airport, to see how much money can be earned by residents.
Its study shows that some people living near Heathrow are asking for £522 a week from potential customers.
The most expensive parking alternative is in Malvern Road, Harlington, according to the JustPark website.
On the cheaper side, parking in Trevithick Close, Feltham, is listed for just £42 a week, but is more than two miles away.
Sam Sheehan, motoring editor at cinch, said: “The rising costs of airport parking present a real opportunity for people with spare driveway space near an airport.
“Before turning your driveway into a parking spot, you should check how much the parking around you already costs. This will make sure your prices are competitive, so your driveway gets as many bookings as possible.”
