THE RSPCA charity shop at Crescent Parade, Long Lane, Hillingdon, reopened today (2) after refurbishment.
It has served people in Hillingdon for more than 15 years, selling everything from clothing to homeware, furniture and gifts.
It raises funds to support the activities of the Hillingdon, Slough, Windsor, Kingston and District branch, including the RSPCA Hillingdon Veterinary Clinic – which treats 4,000 animals each year – and the Homing Centre at Denham.
That rehomes around 400 animals annually and is currently caring for more than 80.
The Hillingdon premises were previously owned by a pet shop that closed.
Trustees Irene Hansford (now chairperson) and Chris Letherby ran the charity shop as volunteers for three years, before taking on permanent staff.
The opening was attended by Uxbridge & South Ruislip MP Danny Beales.
The branch also runs a charity shop in Denham Green, adjacent to Denham Station. Both shops are in need of volunteers.
