A SELF-taught artist, now aged 73, has his first-ever solo exhibition at Stockley Park this month.
Jack Verity worked as an engineer and installed traffic lights before feeling the need to “create beauty in a bleak world”.
Jack began his creative journey while balancing work with his art, and over the years he has taken part in 10 group shows.
“I do one-offs only,” he explained. “I don’t want prints of my work, but I would allow them to be reproduced in a magazine. To be seen by the masses would be a great thrill.”
Since retiring three years ago, he has embraced his role as a full-time artist and has no plans of slowing down.
You can book free tickets for Jack’s Vortex exhibition at https://wlsoa.org/pages/events.
It will be held at the Glass Pencil Gallery, West London Society of Art, Quayside, Stockley Park, from October 18-20, 11am-5pm.
West London Society of Art is a non-profit group working in partnership with Hypha Studios to manage 22 free studios at Stockley Park.
The aim is to give artists in the area the space to create new work.
