FOR its next production, Ruislip Dramatic Society returns to the Compass Theatre with a rip-roaring farce, It Runs in the Family, that promises to have the audience in stitches.

It’s three days before Christmas and Dr Mortimore is about to deliver the most important speech of his life, which should earn him a knighthood.

Then enters Jane Tate, an old flame with a son he never knew he had!

Combine this with the fact this son is now in reception, desperate to meet his dad, and things start to get a little complicated.

A heavy dose of invented stories and manic cover-ups is therefore prescribed in this riotous comedy where the truth must be avoided at all costs.

And what could possibly go wrong with a police sergeant, a severe hospital matron and, worse still, Dr. Mortimore’s wife on the scene, too?

Penned by the master of farce, Ray Cooney, It Runs in the Family shows the playwright at his best.

Cooney, now 92, has had his work translated into more than 40 different languages for productions worldwide.

Most recently, in 2021, the Mill at Sonning Theatre actually named its auditorium in his honour.

November 13-16, 7.45pm, Ruislip Dramatic Society presents IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY by Ray Cooney, at the Compass Theatre, Glebe Avenue, Ickenham. Tickets: £14 or £13 concessions (available on Wed/Thu only). Book online at www.ruislipdramatic.org and https://discover.hillingdon.gov.uk  Call Compass Box Office on 01895 250615.
