WITH less than 70 days until Christmas, Dogs Trust Harefield is on a mission to find the dogs in its care the one gift they all want – a home for life.
Dogs Trust Harefield is currently home to 86 dogs and has received 2,000 handover inquiries so far this year from owners no longer able to care for their dogs.
Thankfully, in 2024 so far, the charity has also found new homes for more than 6,000 dogs across the UK.
One of those hoping for a new home ahead of the festive season is Ares, an eight-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross.
He’s been in care at Harefield for more than two years and hasn’t had many families interested in adopting him.
Ares is looking for an understanding and patient family who are willing to work with him on his confidence.
He can be easily worried by noise and by meeting new people in indoor spaces. He enjoys calm walks and playing with his toys in a secure garden environment.
Richard Moore, manager at Harefield, said: “While the Dogs Trust team will make sure the dogs in our care over Christmas are well looked after, we all know there’s nowhere quite like home.
“Welcoming a dog into your home is a wonderful experience, and our care doesn’t stop at rehoming. We offer ongoing support and guidance to owners throughout their dog's life."
