THE Christmas lights in Uxbridge town centre were switched on by the Mayor on Friday (14).
Free mulled wine and mince pies, along with tea and coffee, were provided for onlookers as Cllr Colleen Sullivan performed the opening.
Music was provided by the Hillingdon Music Service Brass Band, as well as carol performances from schools and choirs.
These included: Dr Triplett's C of E Primary School and Grange Park Junior School in Hayes, Hermitage Primary School, Uxbridge, St Bernadette Catholic Primary School, Hillingdon, and William Byrd Primary Academy, Harlington.
Council leader Ian Edwards said: "These events are a wonderful opportunity for families to come together.
“I encourage everyone to shop local and support our independent businesses."
Hillingdon Council is supporting 32 Christmas lighting schemes across the borough.
There will also be Christmas activities in borough libraries, theatres and garden centres over the festive period.
