Two Uxbridge College Football Development Centre students have been selected for the Chelsea Under 19 College Representative Squad - with Chelsea Academy scouts keeping an eye on their performance.
Majid Niknezhad and Jermaine Francis were selected after a successful trial at Cobham Training Ground and have started playing in inter-college matches with other representative teams.
Laura Kaminski, Head Football Coach for Uxbridge College Football Development Centre, said: “We’re really proud of Majid and Jermaine, it’s a real achievement to be selected for Chelsea Under 19 College Representative Squad and potentially a fantastic opportunity to move towards professional football. We wish both boys a successful venture as they aim for the Academy Side with the Blues.”
The Chelsea team played Crystal Palace U19 Representative Squad at Cobham and lost 3-2. The team will return for another fixture in the next few weeks.
Talented players from the club’s college representative teams may get the chance to play for the prestigious Chelsea Academy.
Players in Uxbridge College’s Football Development Centre are chosen through trials and receive extra training and coaching and a chance to play in college leagues, whilst studying full-time at college. The development centre is run in collaboration with Chelsea FC Foundation.
