HAYES and Yeading United manager Garry Haylock says his squad is good enough to win promotion to the Football League.
The former Yeading boss is set to lead out the newly-formed club in their first ever game in the Blue Square Conference South opener at Lewes on Saturday.
Haylock said: "There is enough ability in the squad to get us promoted. I think league football is a possibility.
"The players are good enough but it's about showing it on the pitch.
"We have some quality players and I think we will be competitive.
"It's been a long pre-season and we just want to get started now."
The newly united club have merged players from both Hayes and Yeading. And Haylock admitted it has not been the easiest job bonding one team.
He said: "There were some political problems which went with the formation of a new club.
"I have just tried to get in players who can buy into the ethos and mentality I'm looking for.
"I identified certain individuals who needed to go out of a group.
"But at the moment it is looking good and is working well.
"If we go and lose three or four games in a row then the problems will appear.
"I haven't really thought about the significance of Saturday's occasion but I will make sure the players are aware of it.
"But I've been too busy thinking about tactics and injuries."
United have strengthened their squad with the additions of Wycombe pair Steven Gregory and Tom Cadmore on three-month loans.
And competition for a place up front is hotting up with Josh Scott netting a hat-trick against Exeter and Kieran Knight hitting a brace in the win over Charlton.
Haylock added: "We are very lucky to get the two lads in from Wycombe. They have loads of ability and it was a bonus just to get them in.
"Last year at Yeading the strikers knew they would play regardless of how they performed.
"So now I've told the two that will start they will be replaced if they are not performing. It gives us more squad options."
