RUISLIP Rugby Club warmed up for the season with a convincing win at Windsor on Saturday.

The first team proved too strong for the hosts winning 40-0.

Paul Gibson scored the first try in steaming, hot conditions.

Mike Forster made a dazzling run, passed to Jean-Pierre Greyling and found Gibson. The conversion was scored by Forster.

Peer Enright was in the right place to grab the second try.

Ruislip grabbed the third when scrum half Peter Skinner took the ball and found winger TJ Okeshola who found the tryline. The conversion gave them a 21-point lead at the break.

Greyling got on the scoresheet five minutes after the break and Ben James also finished off a move.

Hooker Denis Rowe completed the scoring with an unconverted try to put the seal on a confident display.

Ruislip coach, John Lacey, said: "I was very pleased. This was a good all-round performance, with our pack in control for most of the time.

"I also thought the new players we've brought in all did really well, especially Russell Webb who, if he keeps up this sort of impressive form, is going to be an important part of the team during the coming league campaign."

The second team did not have as much joy as they went down to Windsor 2nds by 21-0.

They conceded three converted tries in the first half hour and there was no way back from that.

Another blow was the injury to young talent Sam Perez. He was carried off with a serious knee problem.
